Cardiac Arrest

Cardiac arrest is a sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness, usually resulting from an electrical malfunction in your heart that disrupts its pumping action. It’s a serious medical emergency that must be treated immediately.

Men are 2-3 times more likely to experience sudden cardiac arrest.

Cardiac Arrest often occurs with no warning. The first signs for both men and women are often:

  • Sudden collapse and loss of consciousness
  • No pulse
  • No breathing

Sometimes these symptoms may precede sudden cardiac arrest:

  • Fatigue
  • Fainting
  • Blackouts
  • Dizziness
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weakness
  • Palpitations
  • Vomiting
